Shockingly enough, this place had that savory New Mexican food that I had wanted all weekend. We were on our way back to Denver from Santa Fe and randomly picked this place for lunch. Pretty small inside, maybe 20 tables, plus a patio space. The decor was really fun with lots of memorabilia, license plates, figurines, pottery, etc. But onto the food. I got a small combo plate (1 enchilada, 1 taco, rice and beans) and the boyfriend got the medium combo plate (same but an extra enchilada). The enchiladas were stuffed full of cheese and both chili sauces were fantastic. The tacos were scrumptious. The boyfriend said they were so good, he'd wished he'd gotten the taco plate. The orders don't come with salsa, but instead sopapillas. I had two...and a half. Service was speedy, pleasant, and attentive. Which is good considering it was lunch time on a Monday and the place was about half full. Definitely a great little gem. We'll be sure to stop here on our next trip down to Santa Fe.
Great service, very good chile rellenos and sopapillas, big portions, reasonable prices
Great little find! Fantastic breakfast!
The food was good! Minus the flies.. New Mexico food is Amazing!❤️ Definitely would come back!!!
Good bkfst... They like to burn the potatoes
Food was good. Service was so so that day
Usually the food here is good but today i do have to say either the tortillas were rancid or the potatoes. I know lately when we have eaten breakfast there the potatoes are tasty I was very disappointed today because you pay your moneys worth. It is like going to a fast food place and they don't give you the correct order only this one was the taste. You might want to check the potatoes and tortillas just to make sure one does not get ill from eating the food. I say that for any restaurant but today it is this one. Good service and good food work together.I pray you care enough for your customers to want to come back.
A must stop if you are in the area and want authentic mexican food. Reminds me of a place in Isla Mujeras! Thanks very much! Nice people, spanish diner atmosphere, good convo, good prices, excellent food.
Excellent New Mexican food and friendly service. I got the 2 tamale plate with xmas style chile with posole and sopapillas.
The food was delicious, never been there . We are from Austin Tx. We were passing through. I would give this Restaurant a 2 Thumbs Up. Thank ya 😊
Just ate at johnnie's. It took a long time to be waited on. The food was good when it finally showed up. There seemed to be plenty of girls working. But when we needed more service or refills on drinks, they walked all around us without making any eye contact. Good food but the service sucked. Won't GO Back!
Delicious, exactly the New Mexican food I was hoping to find.
New Mexican food at its best! Prices are great and the ambiance is of New Mexico a hundred years ago. Both green and red chile's are authentic and yummy.
Awesome New Mexican Foods! Located in Las Vegas, New Mexico, this place rocks the food they make. It's delicious, filling, the staff is friendly. Shout out to our waitress Stacy. You're awesome. Prices are moderate. Your food choices are plenty, the drinks are cold or hot. Your choice. Next time I'm here in Vegas, I'm definitely coming here!
great local place. breakfast specials, good prices.
Enjoyed the meal the first time so came back for more. This place helps you remember what families with a great cook can do. Plan on eating there again soon.
Brandy the waitress was amazing. The food could have been better.
One of the few restaurants open on New Year’s Day! Got the dirty tacos with shredded beef. The tacos were flavorful and I got my hands oily. Pricing and portion size are well priced and decently sized. I’d come back again if I’m ever in the area.
Great food, lots of it!
This place is a gem. We stop here every time we drive down to see Nana in NM. The red chile is the best I’ve ever had. The sopapillas are perfect. They is the real deal for New Mexican food.
Always 5 stars! Great food and service. Always a smile when you walk in none better in town!
Great pricesGood New Mexican food.Las Vegas breakfast for $4.50 is full breakfast and delicious. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Music keeps with theme.Humerous signs hung out.
I love sopaipillas❤❤❤green enchiladas very good new Mexican food
Good food! Fast service at a fair price!
Decently priced food and tasty too!!
Great breakfast, totally recommend it.
Johnny's is a great place to eat but every once in a while it can be blah . Love the number 2 combo and the dirty tacos. All in a good place to eat
Great find! Low key, no frills. Indian taco was hearty and flavorful. Go with the ground beef or shredded beef, as the chicken was a little bland. When the server asks whether you want red or green chili, just say "yes, please!" Got both red and green chili on the side which has a slow heat that sneaks up on you, but not too overwhelming. Red chili was a little smoother, while the green chili had more up front flavor. The stuffed sopapilla was enough for both of us to share and excellent with the carne adovada. The rice was also a delicious surprise (almost a meal in itself), as was the posole which was hominy heavy-which I am partial to. Service was friendly and efficient.
This is what you would call the little hole in the wall that has good food .
This odd such an excellent place to eat. The food is reliably delicious and the servers are courteous and welcoming. We went on Christmas Eve and they never once rushed us or made us feel in the way my sister had the ground beef tacos with a side of french fries, my husband had the Menudo, and I had my all time fave!-the ohh so delicious chicharrone Frito pie! My husband and I also shared a yummy chile relleno.
If you're traveling on I-25 it's worth the quick detour! Stopped & ordered breakfast burritos to go. Fabulous!!
#cultural venue with lots to see and food at reasonable prices. Great helpful staff, popular with locals. Walking distance from #Plaza WiFi is little slow. Ate the #lesvegas special (5$) with free refill large #coffee ($2), cheap budget travel meal.
Great food at a great price. Service is always good and one of the best deals in last vegas. If you have not been here to eat I dont know what you are waiting for.
My omelette was burned. See photo for that and what was left of my daughter's burrito after she took out the potatoes. The menu mentioned nothing about potatoes inside the burrito. Not worth the $7+. The only reason I'm not giving 1 star is that my husband liked his Matador omelette, which wasn't burned.
Couldn't get service. Was greeted by a waitress, then ignored for 10 minutes. Asked her if we could place an order, and was ignored. Want to be clear that this was not during a rush, and there were approximately 10 people inside. Left after we couldn't take the awkwardness anymore. Still confused , and would not recommend. I give 1/9 burgers to this establishment.
We're new to the community and have found our breakfast place. Never been disappointed. Great food great price.
Wife and I had lunch here. I loved it but she didn't. I had Dirty Tacos and thought them excellent. Her stuffed sopapilla was soggy. Good service, average price. I'd give them another chance.
Stopped in about a year ago. I thought it was a fantastic place! Today was the first time I've been back since. Johnny's didnt seem as I rememberd. Did Mgmt or a cook change in the past year? Salsa portion & serving can Pepsi was comical, gave me a nice chuckle! Sopa was flat as a fried tortilla. Tortilla was extra tiny, 2 bites & it was gone. The food was ok.
Excellent Mexican Breakfast
The food is always great. The Dirty Tacos are my favorite.
Very good food. The wait staff was not very efficient nor friendly with the acception of one woman i am unsure of her name. Noticed the nick nacks hanging around and over our table had a HUGE amount of dust, which concerned me i was hoping none happened to fall into my food. Otherwise not bad of a place.
Stopped in for a quick bite on the way back to Denver. I had an Indian Taco with green and red chile (when in New Mexico). Both were on point, especially the red chile. It was amazing, tastes just like the red chile my grandpa makes. I would definitely recommend.
Love, love, love the food! Easy to get to from the highway if you are just traveling through and you want authentic Northern New Mexico food!
Great breakfast! Tamales and fried eggs with red sauce was very tasty. Potatoes were spicy and delicious.
This is one of the best options for New Mexico-style chile in town. Breakfasts are a great deal. Only open for breakfast and lunch. Highly recommended.
One of the best breakfasts I have had in a while. The red chili sauce is awesome. Had the eggs and tamales my wife the eggs and enchiladas. Both very good. My new favorite for the Las Vegas area. They have a breakfast special that is hard to beat at $4.50. Very authentic.
The food was good and tasty. Staff ki d , helpful. A measure thankyou
Delicious home style northern New Mexico cuisine. Great "Les" breakfast $4.50, try the churiso.
Me and my husband decided to stop here at Johnnie's, after a day of traveling. It was the nastiest mexican food we have ever had. We also had to pay 1.25 for some chips and salsa but the chips were from a bag you can buy at walmart. Every other mexican restaurant we go to they're homemade and free. Guess everywhere is different. Wouldn't recommend eating here, I'd enjoy taco Bell more than here.
Laughing at the negative reviews.....Service, hospitality, taste, quality, and price — this place is awesome for breakfast.
